The AAMC Collaborative for Health Equity: Act, Research, Generate Evidence (AAMC CHARGE) cultivates the health equity community by advancing collaborative research, policy, and programmatic solutions to health and health care inequities. AAMC CHARGE represents over 1200 individuals of which more than 400 are part of its virtual community. With individuals representing more than 600 entities, titles and roles of AAMC CHARGE members range from learners to deans in academic settings, and from program associates to VPs and CEOs in non-academic settings. We are inviting this community to help us guide the research endeavors of the AAMC Center for Health Justice for next fiscal year (FY2024). All AAMC CHARGE members may apply to participate in the agenda-setting events described below. Eight members will be selected and will receive a stipend of $2,000 for actively participating in all three events.

Topic Areas: Environmental Justice, Maternal Health Equity, Data for Health Equity, Trustworthiness, Civic Engagement, LGBTQIA+ Issues. Each of the events will be supported by a facilitator to help participants arrive at the meeting's objectives. Please note that the time of the events will be decided once participants are selected to accommodate schedules, but if you are applying, please hold the dates below.
Event 1: January 17th, 2023, virtualBrainstorming: The goals of the research agenda-setting process will be presented, parameters will be discussed, and the participants will be asked to share their ideas and guidance about the Center for Health Justice's research-to-action agenda. Objective: To meet the group, understand the ask and elicit discussion around topic areas for research agenda and capture information. Event 2: February 13th, 2023, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM EST, virtualPrioritization and Integration: The second event will focus on narrowing the topics presented in Event 1, integrating the diverse perspectives represented by the center's Multisector Partner Group and the eight selected AAMC CHARGE members. Participants will work towards priorities that will guide the research activities of the center into the next fiscal year (FY2024). Objective: Identify 3-4 priority topics that are of multisector relevance and that uphold different perspectives. Event 3: March 17th, 2023, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM EST, in-person in Washington, DCContinued Integration and Implementation: The third event will allow the selected AAMC CHARGE members to ensure the integration of diverse perspectives into the priorities defined in Event 2, and will develop the research questions and directions for each topic. Participants must have participated in Events 1 and 2 to attend this in-person event. Travel expenses will be covered by the AAMC Center for Health Justice. Objective: Produce 1-2 research questions/directions per topic. Please note that all CHARGE members will be invited to participate in a "happy hour" session the first week of January 2023 to share thoughts and sentiments regarding the research agenda as a precursor to these three events.
