Webinar 1: September 20th - Introducing the Guide!
Description:
In this first webinar, our presenters, Grace Clifford, Sue J. Nahm (David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA) and Aggie McGrane (Northwestern University) will give you a comprehensive overview of the process for requesting accommodations on the USMLE Step examinations. They will cover essential information, including required and recommended documentation, the structure and content of the Step exams, and a review of the updated Guide to Requesting Accommodations on the USMLE Step Exams.
Webinar 2: October 5th - Working with Providers and Creating a Plan
Description:
For the second webinar, Sarah Triano (Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine), Rebecca Güler, and Kara James (Mayo Clinic School of Medicine) will discuss best practices for collaborating with healthcare providers to obtain high-quality documentation. Additionally, they will offer valuable insights on crafting a meaningful and impactful letter of support.
Webinar 3: October 18th - Assisting Students with Crafting the Personal Statement
Description:
The third webinar will focus on the critical aspect of the personal statement. Our presenters, Lisa Meeks (University of Michigan Medicine/DocsWithDisabilities Executive Director), Jan Serrantino (consultant), and Ellen Kaplan (Johns Hopkins School of Medicine) will provide concrete guidance to students on contextualizing their disabilities within their personal experiences and the examination process. They will offer a suggested outline, personal statement prompts, and support in editing, which increases the chances of meeting the NBME standards and presenting a comprehensive application.
