While I can't speak for every institution, I wish I heard more conversations about how we can meaningfully integrate the arts and humanities into medical education across all levels of professional development. A question I've been thinking about is how many institutions put an emphasis on the role of arts and humanities in developing observational skills, empathy, communication, and teamwork? And if institutions don't, why not?
I'm personally looking forward to the LSL sessions exploring the intersection of the arts, humanities, and medicine to deepen my understanding of patient care, what care can look like to different people, and how I can integrate that into improving patient health outcomes. Also, in past experiences, I end up learning so much from the other people that attend these types of sessions. Since the intersection of arts, humanities, and medicine is so broad, everyone has their own unique experiences and stories that I might've never even considered. It really expands my perspective on what we're doing to advance patient, physician, and community care across the country. The people drawn to this work have so much passion and creativity, and they approach medicine from some pretty cool angles - it's always so engaging and inspiring!!
I've linked two related events below if anyone else is interested! I can't wait to meet y'all in a few weeks!

Subject: What conversations should we be having at LSL?
With Learn Serve Lead right around the corner, what conversation do you wish more people in medical education were having right now?
So much of my learning at conferences happens during informal conversations while I'm waiting in a lobby, at a poster session or out to dinner. What topics are you looking forward to talking to colleagues about in those moments?
