More than 20,000 students begin their medical career at one of our nation's medical schools each year. After years of training, they carry a vast range of medical knowledge in complex, compassionate care to millions of patients in communities, large and small, across the country. From advancing telemedicine to addressing health equity to combatting the opioid epidemic, the AAMC's far-reaching network of over 150 medical schools and nearly 400 teaching hospitals and health systems are training the next generation of physicians and health care professionals to shape the future of patient care. Our work is even more critical today, as the country faces a looming shortage of physicians in the next decade. https://whatstartshere.aamc.org/stories/how-academic-medicine-educates-doctors-tomorrow?utm_source=virtualcommunities&utm_medium=socialmedia&utm_campaign=what_starts_here_campaign&utm_term=video_pulse2
