FY 2026 IPPS PROPOSED RULE SUMMARY TEXT

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) April 11 released the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Inpatient Prospective Payment System proposed rule that would update Medicare payment policies and rates for inpatient and long-term care hospitals  Overall, hospital payments would increase by $4 billion in FY 2026 as compared to FY 2025. CMS also includes a request for information seeking input on how to streamline Medicare regulations, reduce provider burden, and reduce the cost of private healthcare expenditures required to comply with federal regulations. Comments on the request for information are to be submitted separately through the link CMS provides. Public comments are due by June 10, 2025.
