Lori DeShetler, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and the Associate Dean for Assessment and Accreditation in the Department of Medical Education in the College of Medicine and Life Sciences (COMLS) at The University of Toledo. Dr. DeShetler chairs the Curriculum Evaluation, Educational Program Objectives Assessment, and Item Review Committees. She also serves on the Association of American Medical Colleges Curriculum Committee. Dr. DeShetler successfully led the medical school through its accreditation visit by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) in 2021, and was selected by the LCME to serve as a survey team member in 2024-25. Since 2002, she has participated in several other accreditation visits for The University of Toledo, including institutional visits by the Higher Learning Commission, leading the Judith Herb College of Education's site visit by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation in 2016, and serving as a mock site reviewer for the COMLS Pathology Assistant program in 2023. Dr. DeShetler is faculty of the Harvard Macy Institute "A Systems Approach to Assessment in Health Professions Education" course, and she is a credentialed Teacher Evaluator in the state of Ohio.
